The top-five finish marked the second reason to celebrate for the rising star. Faced with fierce competition, Martin’s Johnsonville-sponsored Ford also had an impressive qualifying result, coming in sixth place among a star-studded 19-car field.

“Everything about today was surprising,” says Martin. “We were fast in practice, and I was shocked how fast we were in qualifying. These drivers have so much experience, and it’s all new to me.”

It’s been a rapid ascent to the top for Martin, having only progressed from 2-stroke karts to full-sized stock cars at Sunset Speedway just three short years ago.

His career ambitions have garnered a lot of support from the Canadian automotive community, including sponsorship from LGM SecureDrive and an additional contribution this year from Barry Dohms, dealer principal at Guelph Toyota.

A news release from Martin’s team following the event on Saturday revealed that Martin hopes to compete in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series full time by 2017.

Now, Martin and his crew are looking forward – with three more road racing events scheduled for this season, including: Circuit ICAR near Mirabel, Quebec, the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto, and the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park’s big NASCAR weekend to close out the season.

With his impressive showing this past weekend, Martin and his family are considering expanding his schedule to include additional races.

“I’m so proud of what Adam did tonight,” says his father, Brad Martin. “We may have to explore another oval race or two. We’ll start to discuss the possibilities this week.”

Congratulations to Adam Martin, his family and crew! LGM is excited to see what the future holds for such a talented and ambitious young racer.
